The Pick ‘Em to celebrate Week 8 of #MACtion is live! But this time, it’s all #MACtion, no filler.
(Well, other than the “pick six” portion, but you get my drift.)
This weekend’s going to be fun as hell for the MAC West title race.

Ball State (2-0 in MAC play), WMU (2-1), and CMU (2-1) are all with two wins in league play, and that’s probably not what most people had in mind coming into the year. Ball State’s playing impressively, and has the opportunity to make its league record 3-0 if this team can take down Toledo at home. A tough ask any week, but a team like Bowling Green was able to do it last week. (This means Toledo’s going to play inspired as shit in Muncie.)
WMU needs Ball State to come through this week, especially with the way EMU’s played this season. It’s a winnable road game for the Broncos, and EMU has a lot to prove under the lights. NIU’s got a rivalry game with Miami, and the Huskies had an important win over Ohio last week, so let’s see where that takes us.
In the East: Kent State (2-0) has probably the biggest game of the schedule going on this weekend with a road contest against Ohio. BG, fresh off a crazy win over Toledo, gets another home crossover game. Miami, the third 1-1 MAC East team, has a rivalry game at home with NIU. Of the 1-1 teams, Ohio has the best odds of coming away with a win (Caesars: Ohio -7.5, Miami +2.5, BG +11.5), which means if Ohio wins and the other 1-1 teams lose, Ohio will be the division’s leader with a 2-1 record and a head-to-head tiebreaker over Kent State.
Alternatively, Kent State could just come away with an important upset on the road against a struggling Ohio squad, and be 3-0 in MAC play for the first time since 2012.
- Deadline for entries will always be as soon as the games for that week kick-off. For this week, I’ll stop taking submissions as soon as the Saturday games begin at noon.
- Your entry with the latest timestamp is the one that matters the most. So you can make your picks on Monday, then submit new picks on Wednesday, but I’m only accepting Wednesday’s picks.
