EMU Called a Timeout Before 1st Play of Game

Instead of running the offense after taking the opening kick like a normal football team, Eastern Michigan burned its first timeout with 15 minutes remaining in the first quarter.

The offense lined up with the play clock winding down under 10 seconds, but as it wound down to 4…, 3…, quarterback Mike Glass was staring at the sideline until head coach Chris Creighton called a timeout.

I don’t have the hard data in front of me, but I’m confident that Creighton, for whatever the reasons may be, leads the conference with most 1st quarter timeouts called during his tenure.
