QB Report: The Dog Days of #WaitAndSeeSZN

First-year Northern Illinois head coach Thomas Hammock is gonna be one of those guys and not name a starting quarterback.

The two names are Marcus Childers — MAC Freshman of the Year in 2017, then MAC Championship Game MVP the next — and Cal transfer Ross Bowers — who just got to DeKalb a couple months ago, but most agree that he’s better than the returning guy.

From our perspectives at home, there’s no real telling what NIU’s going to do about having two quarterbacks in a transition year, but not a “Year 0” because NIU’s just too good for that. Maybe Bowers will be used on the pass plays, Childers moreso on the run? Maybe game snaps will be closer to 50-50? 60-40?

We’ll just have to wait and see.
