4th gen Boyer to BG, Loeffler’s first 2020 commit
The first to commit to Bowling Green in the 2020 recruiting cycle is Bryce Boyer.
Boyer will represent the fourth generation of football players in his family to go to BGSU.
Boyer’s dad, Lee, was a standout linebacker in the early 90’s with two outright MAC championships, two bowl victories, and was a Second Team All-MAC linebacker in 1993 with academic honors too. Lee’s dad, Chester (or “Chet”) was a MAC champion (it was shared but whatever) in 1965, then was named team captain two years later. Then there’s Rodney Boyer, who lettered at Bowling Green in 1937 and ’38.
That’s one hell of a family tradition to be a part of.
247sports.com doesn’t have a composite score for Boyer, so BG doesn’t currently appear on the site’s MAC rankings. But, with BG getting its first commit now, the only MAC teams without a commit for this year’s cycle are Akron and Central Michigan.
Toledo, WMU add to freshman classes
WR/QB Kenyon Sneed (Trotwood, Ohio; Trotwood-Madison) will be attending Toledo this year. Sneed played both QB and WR, but he’ll likely end up as a receiver.
RB Kris Hodgson (Portage, Mich.; Portage Central HS) will be going to WMU this year. Hodgson got his first offer from Tiffin in February.
DE Brendan Smith (Orange City, Fla.; University HS) will join Akron this year as a preferred walk-on. He had offers to attend Florida Tech (DII), Jacksonville (FCS), and West Florida (DII), with PWO opportunities to Kansas, South Florida and Virginia Tech.
K/P Jimmy Lowery (Plantation, Fla.; American Heritage HS) will join NIU this year as a late addition to the 2019 class. Lowery had preferred walk-on offers to Oregon, LSU, Auburn and Louisville. Howard and Morgan State offered him last calendar year.
RB Elijah Green (Roswell, Ga.; Blessed Trinity HS) was offered by Toledo Wednesday, then added another from Akron the next day. Green’s been offered by a lot of schools already: South Carolina, Iowa State, North Carolina, Virginia, NC State, Vanderbilt, Boston College, Tulane, Coastal Carolina, Princeton, Colorado State, and Kansas. That’s 14 offers.

His other offers come form Seton Hill, CMU, Indiana, Western Illinois, NIU (Rod Carey’s staff), Kentucky, EMU, Cincinnati, Morgan State, WMU, BGSU, Toledo, Cornell, Harvard, Kent State and Columbia.
2021 TE/DE Jameson Geers (New Lenox, Ill.; Providence Catholic HS) received his first offer from NIU over the weekend.
