MACtion Transfer Portal (2018-19)

Below is a list of players from the Mid-American Conference who plan to leave, or have left, their respective teams by entering their names in the brand-new NCAA transfer portal.

If there’s a name in the portal that affects the MAC and isn’t listed below, please contact me via Twitter (@MACProspectus) or email ( All sources remain anonymous.

  • Just because a player’s name has been entered into the portal, that doesn’t mean the player is forced to leave. This also doesn’t mean the affected head coach is forced to hold a roster spot for the player if he doesn’t end up transferring. That player also isn’t guaranteed his scholarship back, either.
  • As of 5/27/19, 67 players (not including Tyree Jackson) have entered their names into the transfer portal and 25 have either joined or committed to new colleges. Here’s the breakdown, by divisions transferred to:
    • 13 to FBS
    • 9 to Power 5
    • 7 to FCS
    • 2 to Division II
    • 1 to Division III
    • 2 to JUCO
  • Buffalo QB Tyree Jackson entered his name in the transfer portal days after the Dollar General Bowl, but announced his decision to declare for the NFL Draft instead just days later.
  • Northern Illinois WR Amir Brummett announced that he’s looking to play basketball instead.
  • MAC-to-MAC transfer: On Wednesday, May 8, WR Julian Hicks announced that he will transfer to Akron from Central Michigan.
  • I previously had cornerback Ozziah Williams listed as a departing player from Western Michigan. That’s true and all, but he came in after the end of the 2018 season (via the JUCO route) and left before spring ball got going.
  • CMU lineman Shawn Wiley is walking away from football entirely.
