QB Michael Kern commits to Toledo

Toledo got its first quarterback for the 2019 recruiting cycle with the addition of Michael Kerns, a pro-style recruit out of Orlando, Fla. (Lake Nova).

By 247sports.com, Kerns has a three-star rating with his composite score of 0.8299.

Watching his highlights, Kerns fits what Toledo’s looking for. He’s 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, active in the pocket, can throw and place it on his downfield throws (sometimes on the run) — those are similar traits to the other quarterbacks that have come through Toledo.

Kern’s the sixth commit for the current recruiting cycle for Toledo and the sixth player to commit to a Mid-American Conference program as a quarterback. The other QB commits this year include Mark Nondorf (Ball State), Dequan Finn (Central Michigan), Alante Brown (Miami-OH), Brett Gabbert (Miami-OH) and Payton Thorne (Western Michigan).

Toledo was the first to offer Kern, then 16 others offered him too: Akron, Southern Alabama, South Dakota, Buffalo, Georgia State, Appalachian State, Liberty, Temple, Troy, Old Dominion, Cornell, Richmond, Kent State, Southern Mississippi, Holy Cross and Samford.
