Miami adds speedster WR

The Miami-OH football program received its 13th commitment on Tuesday. James Maye is the newest addition to the class of 2019 — a wide receiver from Charlotte, N.C. (Rocky River).

Maye is the third wide receiver to commit to Miami along with Jack Coldiron (Park Hills, Ky., Covington Catholic) and Nick Mason (Jonesboro, Ga., Mundy’s Mill). He’s also the seventh player to commit to the RedHawks this month.

This receiver is easy to fall in love with when you watch his tape. Maye’s incredibly fast and he thrives in open space. He’s definitely the type of player you just say “give him the ball and watch him go.” At a listed frame of 5-foot-9, 165 pounds, he’s not a big target, but he’s a promising slot receiver and another candidate to field kickoffs and punts.

Class of 2019 updates

Wide receiver recruit Charles Njoku (Wayne, N.J., Wayne) announced his plans to make a decision on which school he’ll commit to on Tuesday, May 29. Njoku is rated a three-star recruit and No. 20-rated recruit by and stands at 6-foot-4, roughly 200 pounds. The receiver currently holds nine total offers from: Rutgers, Buffalo, Boston College, Wake Forest, Toledo, Temple, Syracuse and Kent State.

Marvin Grant Jr. also announced that he’ll be making a decision about this pick of school, too. Grant’s a high-profiled safety from Detroit, Mich. (Martin Luther King) with an extensive list of offers — Toledo, Iowa, Michigan, Temple, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Iowa State, Central Michigan, Maryland, Cincinnati, Ohio, Eastern Michigan, Missouri, Purdue, Morgan State, Hampton, Norfolk, Morehouse and Boston College. With 12 offers coming from Power 5 programs, it’s hard to imagine that the No. 5-rated recruit in Michigan will pick a Mid-American Conference school over the others, but we’ll find out more on Saturday, May 5.

Offensive tackle Jay Amburgey (Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Reynoldsburg) brought his offer count up to 14 after yesterday’s offer from Western Michigan. Amburgey is a three-star recruit with a composite score of 0.7999. He currently holds other offers from Ball State, Miami-OH, Bowling Green, Kent State, Buffalo, Ohio, Eastern Kentucky, Akron, Appalachian State, Toledo, Cincinnati, Cornell and Syracuse.
