Toledo football signing class of 2018

Ten more players were added to Toledo’s football program today, including three defensive junior college transfers and two long snappers.

Those JUCO players are cornerback Jordan Hendy (College of San Mateo), linebacker Evander Craft (College of DuPage) and defensive end Melvin Johnson (Riverside CC).

Johnson originally signed with Arkansas last year, but did not qualify academically. Johnson already played two years of college ball at Riverside, so he’s good for two years at Toledo. He was last listed at 6-foot-5, 285 pounds.

Derrius Mullins is a big addition to the team, too. Mullins is a three-star defensive tackle from Columbus, Ohio that was also set on going to Indiana. Originally, Mullins planned on signing with Indiana last year, but he didn’t qualify academically to join the Big Ten program, so he spent a year at Jireh Prep. Mullins ended up decommitting from Indiana in January 2017, then enrolled at Toledo in the fall. He’ll have four years of eligibility.

Craft, by 247sports.com composite, is the No. 2 ranked JUCO Prospect in Illinois and the No. 7 JUCO outside linebacker. He was originally committed to Purdue, but a torn MCL (which he’s fully recovered from) ended that.

Jalynn Williams is the highest-rated Toledo signee by 247sports.com with a composite score of 0.8729. He’s listed as a wide receiver, but signed as a safety. Mullins is No. 3 on the list, linebacker D’Andre Ragin comes in at No. 8 and Craft is ranked No. 9.

Parker Bisek, offensive lineman, is a long-time commit to Toledo, but waited out the recruiting process to sign.

With a signee points total of 173.42, Toledo’s class is ranked No. 1 in the Mid-American Conference, and the players have an average rank of 82.77.

Meet Toledo’s current signing class. Names in bold have been officially added Wednesday. Names in italics indicate junior college transfers. Asterisks (**) means that that player is currently enrolled. Ampersands (&) indicate those who join the team as walk-ons. The pound sign (#) indicates those who join the team as blueshirts.
