Eastern Michigan’s signing class is JUCO heavy

Eastern Michigan’s signing class showed some late life with junior-college pickups. Of the 16 players that officially signed, six are JUCO transfers.

According to 247sports.com, EMU’s signing-day class is ranked No. 5 in the Mid-American Conference, but this rank includes a couple of high school commits that didn’t sign on Wednesday and does not include most of the JUCO players.

The six JUCO players added to EMU’s roster includes: linebacker Kobie Beltram (Antioch, Calif.; City College of San Francisco), wide receiver Line Latu (San Mateo, Calif.; College of San Mateo), linebacker Tyrone Neal (Hillsdale, Ill.; Fort Scott CC), tight end Thomas Odukoya (Almere, Netherlands; Garden City CC), defensive lineman Turan Rush (Charleston, W.V.; Antelope Valley College) and defensive end Shawn Simeon (Miami, Fla.; Coffeyville CC).

Of the JUCO transfers, Rush has sophomore eligibility. The other six have two years of eligibility left.

With high school players, EMU did a good job of getting local kids to commit. Safety Robert Daniel is from Oak Park, Mich., dual-threat quarterback Aaron Jackson is from Detroti, Mich.; defensive lineman Carter Stagner is from Birmingham, Mich. and three other signees are from Ohio.

There are four noteworthy commits that did not sign. Defensive back Charles Gadie, who grew up in Detroit and is graduating from the metro-Atlanta area, will sign in February. Wide receiver Logan Giordano was not listed as one of the signees, but he will join the team as a blueshirt player. Kicker Vinnie Patreri didn’t sign, but he still plans on joining EMU.

Jacob Whitmer, a JUCO wide receiver/tight end out of Chaffey College, also has not signed.

Below is the list of players who have signed their LOIs with Eastern Michigan. Links go out to their Hudl (or YouTube) pages, Twitter accounts and the videos below each player come from what the school has tweeted out.
