Bowling Green’s signing class shapes up nicely

Bowling Green head coach Mike Jinks was able to ink 18 additions to his football team, which is ranked (by as the No. 4 class in the Mid-American Conference.

According to 247sports, five of the top seven players in BG’s signing class are on defense. That’s a reassuring claim to note, given that BG has had the worst defense in the MAC in Jinks’ two years. Yesterday, the program announced Carl Pelini has been named the new defensive coordinator for the program.

The five, aforementioned players are: linebacker Antwaun Johnson (Dayton, Ohio; Dunbar HS), linebacker Deandre Fitz-Henley (Clearwater, Fla.; Clearwater Central Catholic HS), Devin Ruffin Jr. (St. Louis, Mo.; Lutheran North); defensive tackle Jevon Henderson (Dayton, Ohio; Centerville HS) and cornerback James Harris (Pampano Beach, Fla.; Blanche Ely HS).

Quarterback Bryce Veasley (West Bloomfield, Mich.; West Bloomfield HS) threw for over 3,300 yards and rushed for over 500 yards during his senior season and led his team to a state championship appearance. Veasley has announced via Twitter that he will enroll early into the program. Cooper Lee, a punter from Coffeyville Community College, will also enroll early into the program.

There are a few other BG commits that did not sign today. John Wagner of The Toledo Blade reported that Jinks plans on adding six more players in the spring.

Below is the list of players who have signed their LOIs with Bowling Green. Links go out to their Hudl (or YouTube) pages, Twitter accounts and the videos below each player come from what the school has tweeted out.
