Notebook: NIU football shoots for 2019 talent, O’Quinn decommits from WMU

Northern Illinois football has offered scholarships to some talented prospects for the 2019 signing class, recently.

  • Maurice Massey (WR, St. Charles, Mo., Francis Howell North HS) is a 3-star receiver out in Missouri that’s already a hot commodity by teams at the FBS level. NIU was the most recent to offer him, but he also has offers from: Bowling Green, Boston College, Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State and Kansas. Rivals is saying that he has also been offered by Kentucky.
  • David O’Keeffe (TE, Chicago, Ill., Brother Rice HS) is a big-bodied tight end not too far from NIU’s campus. NIU is O’Keeffe’s first offer.
  • Austin Ertl (OL, Wauwatosa, Wisc., Wauwatosa West HS) is a center from Wisconsin and he’s getting a lot of attention from Big Ten and MAC schools. NIU offered Ertl after he visited over the weekend, and also has offers from: Buffalo, Central Michigan and South Dakota State. While he doesn’t hold Big Ten offers, he’s had visits and has received interests from: Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Bad news for Western Michigan, tight end Dylan O’Quinn flipped his commitment from WMU to Cincinnati.
